30th Celebration Classic Collection Is Now Its Own Set
On launch day we split 30th Celebration in two. The main set keeps its 128 cards, 30 secret rares and the three Mew RGB holos. The 30 Classic Collection reprints — Base Set Charizard, Neo Genesis Lugia, Gengar Prime and the rest — now live in their own set, 30th Celebration: Classic Collection. If you had already marked any of them, nothing was lost: every card you owned moved with the set.
Why we changed our minds
Three days ago we shipped the Classic Collection inside 30th Celebration, matching how Celebrations was handled in 2021. Once the set was live the numbers made the case against that. The 30 reprints are worth roughly ten times the entire 128-card main set put together. Keeping them in one set meant a collector who finished every main-set card sat at 67% complete, the set’s value chart was really a chart of the reprints, and any “most valuable card in 30th Celebration” answer was nine Classic Collection cards and one Futuristic Rare. TCGplayer lists the Classic Collection as its own product line, and most collectors chase it as its own checklist. We decided to match that while the set was one day old rather than a year old.
What the two sets look like now
30th Celebration is 161 cards: the 128-card main set, 30 secret rares (Illustration Rares, Special Illustration Rares and the two Futuristic Rares) and the three Mew RGB holos, which are masterset-only. Official completion is still out of 128. 30th Celebration: Classic Collection is 30 cards, 30 out of 30 for both official and masterset. The cards keep their original printed numbers, so Base Set Charizard still reads 4/102 and Lugia is 149/147 — exactly what is on the card.
What happened to your collection
Every Classic Collection card you had marked owned, wanted, or priced moved with the set automatically, along with its price history. Your total portfolio value is unchanged. What changed is how it is presented: 30th Celebration completion no longer depends on the reprints, and the Classic Collection has its own tile, completion ring and value.
What we did not change
Older gallery subsets — Trainer Gallery, Galarian Gallery, Shiny Vault, Radiant Collection and the 2021 Celebrations Classic Collection — still live inside their parent sets. Those have years of collection history behind them and we would rather decide on them separately than move them quietly. If we do, it will get its own entry here.
